Since USB 3 trumps Firewire800 in transfer speed, there is little reason to pay extra for Firewire 800—unless you use Target Disk mode or want to daisy chain several Firewire devices. USB supports neither. Not to mention that most current Macs still lack USB 3 ports, but this is changing fast.

The way for people to remember is that "complement" has an "e" as in complete, and that is what a "complement" does, it completes.
