Save the attachment somewhere on your drive, import it into iTunes, use iTunes to synch your iPod and make sure that song is included in whatever playlist(s) or rule(s) you use to decide which music gets added.

There's no computer available to sync to. Only an iPad gen 4 and wi-fi network.
Any ideas?
I was wondering if there wasn't a way to save an attachment in the iPad mail program, but, I didn't see it.
Thanks, Bob.

To my knowledge, Apple does not allow you to add music to the Music/"iPod" app except by buying & downloading from the iTunes Store app on an iOS device, syncing it through iTunes on a computer, or using iTunes Match (which would still essentially involve a computer).
You should still be able to play the song through the Mail app or some other third party app, but if you want to get it into Apple's official Music app, then you will need a computer.
