I want to know how to turn off auto refresh when you go back a page. This is the single biggest annoyance with Safari 6. Doing a right-click and choosing Open Link in New Tab for every link you click on isn't exactly a natural action.

I've contacted Apple Support, and they said it can't be disabled...

@redgeminipa, Hold down the Command key when you click on a link. This opens the link in a new tab behind the page you're on.

What I can't figure out is how to make the URL appear when you hover over a link. Safari used to do that automatically, and it was helpful to me in terms of getting a sense of where a link was going to send me (especially useful in avoiding phishing links), but I can't see anything in the preferences to enable this. What am I missing?

cannot find the dots under the window in Tab view. Also, two finger swiping does not take me to the next tab, it takes me to the previous window in the current tab. What gives?

The URL appears in the status bar at the bottom of the window when you hover over a link. If the status bar doesn't appear at the bottom of the window, you can go to View > Show Status Bar or hit Command-/ — smile

Thank you so much, you're a lifesaver! I was ready to switch to a different browser.

Is there a way to search a website directly from the address as in Chrome? Type or autocomplete previously used address and hit tab to make it a searchable field, enter a search term and bam? Thank you in advance.

Search and Address is all-in-one in Safari 6.

Are you using Mountain Lion? This feature is only available in Mountain Lion (10.8.x). If you're using 10.8, you have to first do a 2-finger pinch on a trackpad (MacBook's or Magic Trackpad) to enable this. Another way to get this is to click on the icon to the far right of the tabs. It's to the right side of the plus sign to add a new tab.

That still doesn't fix the issue. That's not much different than a right click. It's still an unneeded step that doesn't need to be done.

This problem has manifested recently - when I attempt to open a website the process stops and hangs (blue status highlighting stops between 25% -50%). It does not occur every time, but more often than it should. Any ideas?
