The Mac edition is fine, unless you want to play cooperatively. LAN play isn't supported currently. We tried playing over Steam, but it kept dropping the connection every fifteen minutes or so. Finally booted into Windows and played over LAN, which works fine. Not sure if the problem was the client, or with Steam.

Can someone speak to the availability of the DLC for Borderlands? Is Aspyr committed to releasing the DLC once it is released by Gearbox? If so, how long after release does Aspyr generally release the DLC? I know several people who swear by the DLC for BL2 but I am curious what DLC is or will be available on Mac platform.

There's already plenty of DLC for the Mac! There's the Mechromancer: http://www.gameagent...chromancer-pack , Captain Scarlett: http://www.gameagent...r-pirates-booty , and most recently Mr. Torgue: http://www.gameagent...aign-of-carnage Aspyr continues to work with Gearbox on DLC and is committed to bringing as much Borderlands 2 DLC to the Mac as possible!

What is status and timing of the DLC released by Gearbox on January 15?

We are definitely working on Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt DLC, but a release date is uncertain at this time. Hopefully within the next month or two. It takes a little time once we get the code from Gearbox to fine tune it for the Mac and then a thorough round of testing to make sure it's the best it can be before releasing it to the public.

Sorry but I won't be buying this until Mac and Pc players can play together. Unfortunately all my friends have PCs and I would love to play multiplayer with them. When the versions eventually sync up I will purchase the game. Great review though, makes me want to play the game even more. Please hurry with the updates Aspyr.

Couple of notes: Buy on Steam play on PC and Mac. I played this quite a bit on Xbox until the Mac version came out - now I play on MacBookPro Retina, looks amazing.

I was able to transfer my high level character save from Mac version and play on PC version (mainly b/c I wanted to play multiplayer). Haven't tried moving it back to the Mac yet. Not a simple task, but google the save location and its pretty easy.

Aspyr's twitter is good for watching when the updates happen, but yes the matchmaking multiplayer is broken on Mac - its roulette if it matches you up with a Mac player. As you see from their response, they pay attention to the community and seem to be nice about the dilemma.

Steam has some groups that helps a little, you can join the group, add friends in the group, then when you are in the game, they show up as joinable/invitable right in the game. Not perfect, but a decent workaround.
