Review: 27-inch iMac mixes advancements, compromises

Having taken out the optical drive on a desktop machine with no options (like on the new macbook pros) to retain the drive or not in my opinion is market suicide. I know so many mac users out there who are disgusted with this one move from Apple that they are going back to PC!!
Not only is apple lagging in the design arena, relying on previous designs to keep them going is not good enough. The PC market is making massive leaps over the apple designs now making apple look more pathetic by the month...
If things don't shape up, my next purchase will definitely be a PC.

Sounds almost exactly like the rhetoric when Apple removed the floppy drive from the bondi blue G3s (and introduced the original imac with no floppy drive). I bought a royal blue imac... Guess what... apple went from strength to strength.
You can order your 27 inch with a USB optical drive if your heart is set on retaining one. This is exactly what I've just done. I will keep the drive in my desk drawer because the reality is most people don't really use them all that much any more. PCs are going the same way (intel are not even going to build a tower board with their next generation of chips).
The new machine will be night and day vs. your old core2duo, and they are much cheaper than they were back in 2007 to boot.

Firstly, the side will get thinner and thinner and there is no space for ports and secondly, really? You are that lazy so you can't turn your monitor a bit? Oh and also, it's in the back so you dont see any cables and it's tidy.

It's a desktop computer why would it have a battery? Seriously it weights 10kgs, where are you gonna take it ? Change position to what? A giant Ipad? Well touch screen is good but only on the desk, why in your right mind would you lift a 10kg computer and put it on your lap? Have you had a laptop, maybe you should buy one and if you do you will see that if you keep it in your lap for an hour or two you would be tired.
