This sleeve sounds great, but does ti have room to take a MacBook, that has snap-on shell cover, like those from Speck Products?

If you used the 15-inch Dropsleeves with 15-inch laptops, I don't think it could work with snap-on shell covers, unless you removed the bumpers and not use them. The bumpers are quite snug and I think the extra thickness from a shell would prevent the laptop from fitting inside the Dropsleeve.

I bought a similar sleeve for my 15" rMBP a few months ago - the Thule Gauntlet. It's made for a non-retina model so there's a bit of give inside, but I kept the polystyrene piece from the packaging to keep it snug when closed up. The insides are soft, but there's no padding. I would happily change it for a specifically-designed retina version if they made one.
Does the DropSleeve actually have a retina version? If it's a "one size fits all" for the 15", I would give warning to rMBP users that it may not be the case for them.
