Hi there,
I recently created a folder and set it up so that I needed to enter a password in order to open the folder and access the files in it. I forgot the password to the folder. How can I reset it?
I have MAC OSX Version 10.6.8
Please help there are some very important files locked away and I need to access them.
Thank you all in advance!
J.

How did you create the locked folder? I don't recall of a way to "lock" or encrypt a folder build into the OS, other than using the "permissions settings" built into the OS, but that would tie the permissions to a user account, not a specific password for that folder.
Thus, I would think you would need to use some sort of utility to do it.
Did you use Disk Utility to create an encrypted disk image file?
Or did you use some sort third party utility to "lock" the folder?
The process that you actually used may help someone offer a solution...if there is one.
