Adobe Reader blocked In 2 browsers due to security issue

My Adobe Reader has been disabled in both Firefox and Safari, due to security risks. Most of my tax statements need pdf reader to view and print. Please advise how dangerous it is to override this...and tell me anything about a patch.

Unless there is something weird, you should be able to read PDFs in Preview...even in Safari. You would just have to get the system to switch back to that as the default PDF reader.
