I've had an older ScanSnap S1500M for a number of years and love it. However, it's worth mentioning that it pairs seamlessly with, and is greatly enhanced by, DEVONthink, which allows the scans to be organized, searched and stored very efficiently. Those trying to head towards a paperless office would be well advised to give it a look.

I have an issue that was a show stopper for me. The Neat software on the MAC will not support splitting line items among different categories on a single receipt. Say I've got a Costco receipt with both groceries and printer paper, a business expense I want to track. I can only assign 1 category to the whole bill. This works fine on the Windows version of the Neat software
I was told. this resulted in my Neat scanner et al still sitting on my shelf unusable... Anybody have any ideas?

The author starts the article with a completely nonsensical argument. The scanner on my brother MFP9325 can feed 25 or more pages at a time, it has the flatbed for the occasional book or magazine article, plus it doesn't require additional desktop real estate. It sounds like Landau needs to look at the current MFP's before making such sweeping inaccurate statements. Sadly, this is what "journalism" has been reduced to these days. Forget truth and reality, sensationalism sells!
You should read the article more carefully. The author says the snapscan can scan at 25 pages per minute, not 25 pages at a time. In fact, the snapscan can scan 50 pages a time.

I own the ScanSnap iX500 and the ScanSnap S1100, and I love both of them! You mentioned the S1100 being wireless via bluetooth. How is this possible since it's a mobile USB scanner?

Not happy with my Neat scanner at all. Does not scanner well. I spend more time reorganizing than if I just copied the information directly. Bussiness cards forget it! Sync Quicken information impossible and charged monthly for "cloud" that I never use. NOT HAPPY!!!!

I just received an advertising email from Macworld touting the ScanSnap ix500 (3 months after the above review was posted). I don't mind email from Macworld, because it's generally of interest. But, unfortunately, the email gave incorrect/misleading information in its subject-line. Which I *do* mind.
Titled "Scan to PDF using your smart phone" it has the process exactly backwards. You scan to your smart phone using the ScanSnap device. Which is a disappointment, since I had hoped for the reverse.
Shame that the advertising crew at Macworld doesn't bother to correctly describe the merchandise they're hawking by email.
