Synchronizing mailboxes

Hi. I've just bought my wife a new Mac Book Air. I run an iMac.
We have a wireless connection, so Mail appears on the MBA with the current InBox, Sent, Trash and Junk boxes appearing.
Is there a simple way to get all my other mailboxes appearing on the MBA?

What kind of email account are you using? IMAP (this nominally includes GMail or iCloud) or POP?

If the former, then yes.

If the later, then not really.

Folder (what Apple Mail calls "Mailboxes") can be associated with the iCloud account. If you do that, then they will be nominally* synced across all computers and devices.

You can also create Folders (aka Mailboxes) that are ONLY on one specific Mac. If your folders are that way, then they will not sync across all computers and devices...but we can change that.

What email client are you using? I am assuming Apple Mail.

If you are using Apple Mail, then look at your folders in the side navigation bar (if the side navigation bar is not present then click on the "Show" button in the upper left corner of the Mail window that is below the row of icons across the top). For the folders that you want to show up across the computers, are they listed in the "On My Mac" section? If so, then those folders are ONLY on that Mac right now. To have them sync to other computers & devices, just select one of the folders and then drag that folder down to the section for your iCloud account (i.e. where the various folders for that account are listed...you may have to click the "show" button next to the account name to show them). A line should "appear" when you are at a place where you can put the folder in your iCloud account. When you "release" the mouse/trackpad button, the folder should move from the "On My Mac" section to your iCloud account's section. This should move the folder and all contents (subfolders and email messages) of the folder from your Mac to the iCloud account. You should now be able to see that folder on the other Mac.

* I say nominally because sometimes folders other than the Inbox may not automatically sync. This is definitely true for an iOS device. The contents of folders other than the Inbox will only download (aka sync) when you view that folder on an iOS device. I am not sure if the same thing happens on a Mac. Regardless, you will still have access to all those folders...you just might have to wait a few second as the messages download.

Thank you smax for taking the time to help me with this. I've been using Macs for years, but not with iCloud or in tandem ...

Within Mac Mail I have placed copies of the personal mailboxes below in the iCloud section as you suggested - no problems. However, these have not appeared on my wife's MBA.

I suspect this is associated with the following problem. On the MBA when Mail is opened, the iCloud mail appears automatically, along with all new posts. Great!

On my iMac, when I open Mail, the iCloud mail setup does not appear, and worse, no new mail appears. However I can access new mail by visiting iCloud Mail online.

So it seems that mail is getting through, but just not appearing under the 'Mail' setting on my Mac.

I'm quite happy to work with the iCloud version rather than the MM version. Some connection seems to be missing here. Presumably I should be able to open Mail and get something current?!
