See the problem is that Apple hasn't innovated something new for everyone else to copy in so long that all those other products are just stale.

Like old bread.

With mold.

And the analysts want something new, fresh, and innovative.

From Apple.

If Samsung completely rewrote and redesigned TV no one would notice. It is Samsung after all. But if Apple did it then everyone can complain that it isn't what they expected while at the same time praising Samsung for copying it.

Just wait for it.

PRECISELY! Anyone with an ounce of observational ability can look at the history of the consumer electronics/computing industry and see that Apple has been at the forefront of each of the major categories, creating the bulk of the "new ideas" that Samsung, et al have brazenly copied without so much as a licensing fee or a thank you. I purposely try to pay as little attention as possible to the insanity and legalized gambling/manipulation that is the stock market. It is absolute madness that due to the ravings of weirdos at Forbes, the Wall Street Journal and others that Apple's stock is DOWN when they post a record quarter. Sorry, what was I thinking. This is planet Earth!

Well, if I had some cash sitting around, I'd say *now* is a great time to do some shopping, no? What was that PE ratio again?

These are the same guys who said Apple must make a net book.
Now they are clamouring for Apple to make a cheap phone.
They have one high standard for Apple and a real low standard for the rest and even when they lose money they are given a pass including those who missed expectations.

I dunno about Batman. He seems to use a lot of company equipment for his own purposes.

And he didn't do too well stopping ne'er-do-wells from devaluing his company stock either.

Re: Peter Cohan's contention that "Now it’s time for Apple’s board to put the person with design skill [Johnny Ive] in the CEO job.".

Why? Because any person with half a brain knows that, in order to be successful, a corporation must conduct business according to the tenets of the salutary science of hierarchiology, better known as the "Peter Principle".

Meanwhile, it is obvious to people (and horned ruminants) whose brains developed beyond the halfway mark that the risk of promoting a brilliant and productive member of an organization to a level beyond their level of ability might be a bad idea. Just look at Microsoft, minus the brilliant and productive pre-promotion part.

Why do all these Apple bashers think the only thing people want is a cheaper product? That's why Mercedes-Benz decided to fold their tent.

This would explain why the management consultants were put into the "B" ark.

And you have to admire Douglas Adams' genious for turning his experience with corporate buffoonery into
satiric gold. Much like the Macalope.

You could not have said it better. Apple make products that last. With a very large part of the worlds population having to make their wealth (or lack of it) stretch Apples sales and earnings are exceptional. Samsung phones are really crappy and poor quality. At least if they are going to copy they should raise their own bar.

If I have to endure on more person telling me Apple "isn't innovating anymore" or that "Steve Jobs would never have done xyz..." without being able to back any of it up with facts, I may get physically violent...with love of course.
