Using Spotlight I have no problem finding or opening files on my Mac. However sometimes I just want to know where the file is, or go to it in the finder.
I can't seem to figure out how to have Spotlight just take me to the file.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

At the top of the Spotlight list should be a "Show All in Finder" command. While this is not optimal, it can get you to where you want after a little more work.
This will open a Finder window listing ALL the results. If you scroll through to find the file you want, then you can right-click that file and select the "Open Enclosing Folder" command. That will take you right to the file in its actual location.
I don't know of a better way, but that should do it.

Do any of the following:
- On the Spotlight dropdown results, COMMAND CLICK the selected item.
- In a Spotlight search window, highlight the item and look at the path at the bottom of the window. You can click any path item to take you to the respective place.
- COMMAND CLICK the icon top center of any opened document or folder window to show its path. Again, you can click a path item to take you there.

Here's what worked. Command Click takes you to the file without opening it. That's what I wanted to do. (thanks for that tip)
Command/Option shows you the path in the pop-up window
thanks
