Spotlight Searches

Using Spotlight I have no problem finding or opening files on my Mac. However sometimes I just want to know where the file is, or go to it in the finder.

I can't seem to figure out how to have Spotlight just take me to the file.

Can anyone help?

This will open a Finder window listing ALL the results. If you scroll through to find the file you want, then you can right-click that file and select the "Open Enclosing Folder" command. That will take you right to the file in its actual location.

Do any of the following:

On the Spotlight dropdown results, COMMAND CLICK the selected item.
In a Spotlight search window, highlight the item and look at the path at the bottom of the window. You can click any path item to take you to the respective place.
COMMAND CLICK the icon top center of any opened document or folder window to show its path. Again, you can click a path item to take you there.

Here's what worked. Command Click takes you to the file without opening it. That's what I wanted to do. (thanks for that tip)
Command/Option shows you the path in the pop-up window
