The Software Update in my Mac OSX 10.6 offers Security Update 2012-004, size 269Mb recommended for all users.
I went to the page recommended for extra info http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222.
but didn’t find it of real help to figure out what exactly is doing on.

My question are:

1. Where this Security Update (including all its bits and pieces) is installed?
2.How to identify it ( and its components) and how to remove them if need be?

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY COMPETENT ADVICE!

What "exactly" is going on is that many different bits of code from the stock OS install are being replaced with newer versions that eliminate discovered security holes. The list of those bits of code is too long to list here, but can be retrieved from the update itself using command-line tools or a 3rd-party program like Pacifist.

I'm not sure what page you found, but pragmatically http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5501 should cover the changes sufficiently.

So, where is it installed? All over your boot disk.
How to remove the bits? Roll back to your prior backup, because doing it manually or piecemeal is going to lead to pain.
