I have a manufacturer’s boot-up disk with OSX 10.6.
With Software Update feature, I’ve updated online to OSX 10.6.8.

However, currently, if I need to boot-up from a disk I must use manufacturer’s disk with the older OSX 10.6.


I want ]to burn a boot -up disk with that updated OS 10.6.8[/size] but can’t figure out how to do it.

Cloning of whole HD with everything on it is too large to burn on a disk.

My question: How to burn a boot-up disk with only updated OSX 10.6.8 on it?

A practical tip from someone who knows how to do it, please?

The answer sort of depends on your goal. Not "burn a disc" but what you intend to do with that disc afterwards. What I'd really recommend is that you buy a small USB hard drive or the fastest USB thumb drive you can find that's at least 16GB and do a clean install on that. Then boot from it, update it and - for good measure - add on any 3rd-party maintenance tools you might have such as backup software, Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro.

The problem with making an optical disk is that it takes some real effort to get the OS down to a suitable size these days. The secondary problem is that booting from an optical disc can be annoyingly slow, especially at the times you need to be using it.
