So, how do these devices compair to Nikon's WU-1A unit? It controls iOS device or android. You can control settings see image live on your remote device and snap the picture for saving on camera and remote device as well as sent to Facebook or other service! It cost on Amizon for $58 US Dollars!

Would it work with the Canon 7D and Canon 6D?

"So, how do these devices compair to Nikon's WU-1A unit?"

There's seems to be a number of differences: the WU-1A is much more limited in functionality and only works with a couple of Nikon cameras. From the reviews it also sounds buggy and very slow. It only recently was adapted for iOS devices. And, with most Nikon accessories and software, the support for updates and the like is very limited. The CameraMator sounds like a much more sophisticated and advanced product to me.

How do you still use the hot shoe to trigger speedlights with a Nikon SU-800 commander unit or a SB-910 set to commander mode? Does the CameraMator require a hot shoe or can it be placed on a cold shoe to free up the camera hot shoe?

Saw this item at MacWorld.. real problem with the device is that in order to use an external flash (hot shoe) the user to must hold the CameraMator in the shooter's hand.... very impractical

Swing and a miss (sort of). Nikon has been releasing updates to their products quite frequently should the devices need it...I am currently using the WT-5 with my D4 to tether via OnOnes app. However Nikon has decided that wireless is simply too slow for use with the D800 due to the files sizes...

It might come with a clip that allows it to connect to the camera strap...

"real problem with the device is that in order to use an external flash (hot shoe) the user to must hold the CameraMator in the shooter's hand"

==> not true.

On CameraMator's home page, they show it in use mounted on a cold-shoe bracket, hanging off to the side of the camera (mounted to the tripod socket). The hot shoe on top of the camera is free to use for a dedicated flash (or mount a microphone, or whatever).
