Why must all these content providers persist in tying services to cable of satellite companies. I guess they don't get that most people want to break free of the C & S and their 2 year subscriptions.

That's good news! although I'd love to see an Apple TV app for that...

My guess is that someone has to pay the bills.

Just tried both HBO Go and MAXGO on two devices, all with updated apps and updated my Apple TV to latest version, but all I can do is stream the audio on my HD TV monitor using Airplay The image stays with whatever is on the Apple Tv. Does this require IOS 5? I have so far refused to upgrade my iPhone 4s to IOS 5 but my ipad (original iPad) has the latest upgrades.
What am I doing wrong?

According to the App Store link (https://itunes.apple...d429775439?mt=8), this requires iOS 6 to work, which it does quite nicely.

that exlains it, thanks. unfortunately the original ipad does not support ios 6 without a jail break. It's very sad that Apple keeps making its window for hardware obsolecence shorter and shorter. perhaps it should start to offer Applecare for this problem. I can just hear Applecare's customer support line: "If your device has become completely useless within 3 years do to corporate greed, press 9 and we'll connect you to an Apple Genius who will instruct you how to package your iPad and toss it into the nearest landfill."

Because that's how they make money.
