I am not worried about Apple's business and I am NOT worried about their products. I own a 2009 iMac, a 2011 MacBook Air, an iPad 3, an iPad mini, and an iPhone 4. I would not care if Apple did not introduce anything new for at least a year. The products that I have work perfectly and satisfy my needs completely. Since there are newer models available for all of the products that I own, I could easily get buy for another three years or more simply by buying something that is already out there. I really think that most of the readers of this column are in a similar situation and none of us actually NEED something brand new to be introduced. All those who are bad mouthing Apple right now are losers looking for attention.

Agreed - I need a 17 inch screen not only for aging eyes but to get work done. You just cannot put two screens side by side on a 15 inch screen and see them no matter how good the resolution.

Tim Cook can get the train down the track; but, he cannot get the train on the track. 1 - Glued screens and unserviceable iMacs making them $2500+ throw aways. No Way! They should have a standard size HD slot which pops open on the back. 2 - iLife Suite without updates 3 - iWorks Suite without updates 4 - Lousy iTunes interface. 4 - iCloud short on features and functions. 5 - iOS updates which used to just work --- don't. 6 - Copying Amazon Kindle with an iPad Mini turning Apple into a "me too" company instead of an innovator. 7 - Starting a dividend stock instead of a growth stock. When you pay dividends everyone starts looking for yield; drives down stock price. Stop the dividend. Maybe a one time payout reward but that is it. 8 - Tim Cook says nothing leaving the everyone thinking nothing is happening at Apple... and perhaps we are right. 9 - Deplorable Apple Store Customer Service. Bring back Apple retail head. Can you imagine an employee and manager in Overland Park, KS store telling me how I voided by warranty and Apple Care by upgrading the hard drive on my 5 year old MacBook Pro 17!!!!! Real story. And I had the CEO of a company with me to show him Apple was on top of their game and he should switch their medical software and employees to Apple products!!!!!!!!

This is a pretty confusing rant.

Yeah, I'm very worried about Apple's product direction. The latest iMac really seems like a step in the wrong direction, too much form, too little function. Taking out the optical drive and expandable RAM on a desktop machine doesn't make sense. My kids constantly watch DVDs on their Macs, and the RAM change is effectively a price increase.

For a long time, I've been impressed with how Apple's been able to add more & more value into the iMac, to the point many wondered if there was still a place for the Power Mac. But now they're taking functionality out and have raised the price (twice - sticker & RAM). There's still an awful lot of us who depend on desktop machines to get real work done, and this, combined with the long Mac Pro delay make me wonder if Apple has really lost interest in anything too big to carry in one hand.

Wow, with $130 Billion behind them, Apple could reduce thier products price 20% and give their dealer net work an extra 10% off their net prices and still need a big bank just to hold their money!

What a fantastic idea!

Why don't you set the example by asking your boss to cut your pay 20% and offering another 10% to charity.

If you do that, you've got my vote. Deal?

<The real risk to our continued use and enjoyment of Apple products isn’t some external threat to Apple’s insolvency, but rather Apple’s own failure to deliver the products and services we expect>

AND THAT SAYS IT ALL !!!!

Not quite!

If Apple is failing to deliver the products and services, somebody else would have to be doing so in order for them to be a threat to Apple. I can't think of anybody.

Well actually, that's not quite true. Microsoft is pretty good at delivering the products and services I expect. Then again, I don't have very high expectations of Microsoft, so I'm rarely disappointed. The Surface RT and Pro are no exception.

I agree 100%. I've been waiting for years for an update to the MacPro line of desktops. Where are you when we need you, Apple?

Steve Jobs would be rolling over. How could Apple let HP, or anyone else for that matter, be first in creating a MacAir like computer with a detachable screen/monitor that becomes an iPad like tablet, especially when Apple already had the better "ingredients?"

Maybe by believing that it's a fundamentally flawed idea that isn't worth the opportunity cost to pursue?
