Because of a hardware/software problem on my iMac, I recently did an erase and complete re-install of OS 10.6.8. following the directions given to me by an Apple tech. The tech said that I could upload the photos and music that I had synced from my iMac to my iPad back to the iMac after I had completed the erase and reinstall of of the operating system. I synced all of my photos and music to my iPad IOS 6.1 as directed.  Now I cannot get my photos and music back onto my iMac. Unfortunately, the tech apparently gave me incorrect information.

1) Is there any third party software that will allow me to get my synced photos back to my iMac. 2) Because my photos are taking up considerable space on my iPad, is there any way that I can simply delete these photos? (I don’t really want to.)

If worst comes to worst, you should be able to use Dropbox to get the photos off of the iPad and on to the Mac. You can use the Dropbox app to put the photos on the iPad into your Dropbox account and then either download them to the Mac by way of a browser or using the Dropbox syncing app. If you have more than about 2.5 GB of photos, then you might have to do them in groups (unless you want to pay for more storage from Dropbox...you can use my referral link to get a tad bit more storage for free: http://db.tt/UY1OmarZ).

For the music, it will be a bit tougher. Any iTunes bought songs should sync back fine from iPad using iTunes...or you can likely re-download them from the iTunes Store. Anything that your ripped yourself or bought else where (say maybe Amazon), you will need third party software to do that. There are LOTS of such third party applications. You can likely do a Google search to find something, but if there is someone who can recommend something, then that might be a better way to go. Third party software might also get the photos too.
[soapbox]Back up = good...No back up = bad[/soapbox]
