The new iWatch will control the muscles in your arm to have you reach for your wallet every time Apple sends it a signal to buy something from them.

I'm not really interested in an iPhone but I might consider something like this.

They already have something that does this. It's called the Apple Store. Enter at your own risk!

Hmm... if it incorporates GPS and Apple's mapping app, I fear the new product might map me to the wrong time zone and make me order waffles at dinner time!

Apple could definetly do this. Here is what it should do.
1. It should play music(and have headphone capability, oviously)
2. Siri(with cellular options and wifi)
3.phone
4.voice texting
5. Pedomometer, plus the Nike thing on iPod nano
6.movies(optional)
7.gps and maps(good maps)
8.reminders
9. Scan it as a credit card
10.facetime
11. Holds contacts

trying to figure out how you wrote a whole article about smartwatches without even making mention of one of the most successful brands currently, pebble [http://getpebble.com/]. this company didn't even need Sony or Nike money as they were crowd-funded and set a record on kickstarter?!?!

Apple had watches in the late 90's or early 2000. I still have one - the watch that runs backwards. I also had the grape one like the iMacs of the period, so this in nothing new. Apple has done this already.
