Can this take any 3.5" internal drive or do you have to buy all your drives from CalDigit?

The AV Pro can actually achieve much faster speeds than this if it's used on the latest MacBook Pro, Air, iMac, or Mini that feature USB 3.0. The drive uses the latest USB 3.0 protocol called UAS, and if the AV Pro is used on any of these Mac computers it can achieve speeds over 400MB/s in both read, and write. Check out this AJA speed test of the AV Pro SSD reaching way faster speeds:
One other important note to make is that the AV Pro can actually be bus powered when used with an SSD. It's a great option for backing up data on location fast.
