Adobe releases emergency patches for Reader and Acrobat

It's not just an "emergency patch." It's a "mandatory" update. Acrobat won't run until the update completes. It also seems to have been rushed out the door. In my case, I can't even get the update to work. It fails repeatedly with a 16820 error that has no explanation. Adobe's Application Manager is of no help either. When I ran it, it claims my applications "are all up-to-date as checked," although for some reason Acrobat Reader isn't on the list to be checked. Reader must handle its own updating.

All is not lost though. I don't use Reader that much, so I probably got too far behind for the upgrade mechanism to work. I went to Adobe and downloaded the latest 11.0.02 version of Reader, dated yesterday, and now all seems well. Those who experience trouble updating might want to go to Adobe for the full installer.

Adobe deserves praise for such a quick response.
