hello-no matter what i do, safari keeps opening the same 3 tabs. i've tried all the typical fixes, but no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh, and i've tried the option and or shift key while opening/closing, general preference settings, safari settings, etc.

Have you looked specifically at the "New windows open with:" popup on the General page of Safari's preference window? (I can't tell if that's covered under the umbrella of "general preference settings, safari settings, etc.")

Have you looked specifically at the "New windows open with:" popup on the General page of Safari's preference window? (I can't tell if that's covered under the umbrella of "general preference settings, safari settings, etc.")

yes, i've done that. the only other advice i've gotten (at the apple community) is a string of terminal commands, and that's out of my comfort zone. i don't want to take a chance that even one character or space if off. i'll be in an even bigger mess!

Well, if the Safari setting that activates the behavior you're describing isn't set to do so, my next thought would be to check and see if you have any 3rd-party plugins that are doing it.
