I have some questions someone might be able to help me with. I bought my 2011 17" Macbook Pro secondhand and copied my old Macbook Air account onto it. As a result I now have two admin accounts - the original one on the 17" which has had all the non basic apps and other files removed, and my Air account with all my files and apps. I have the latest Mountain Lion installed.

My questions are: (1) do multiple user accounts slow down startup and shutdown and use memory and disk space? (2) can I merge my two admin accounts into one, or, (3) can I remove the original account which I never need to use and is taking up space, I assume.
