I've been reading computer magazines for the past 30 years. Do you know who slammed Microsoft the hardest (by breadth of influence) over those years? PC Magazine! Not that the other magazines gave them a reprieve either. If Macworld is to have credibility as the largest print publication for the Mac, it needs to lead, which means not only telling you what you want to hear.

You think that's bad? I just got a PCWorld newsletter LOL! Yeah, I unsubscribed faster than...a very fast thing. But the sender was "Macworld Help Desk" and it had the subject line, "Why cross-platform gaming is Microsoft's secret weapon." Weird. I think it's IDG's attempt at going out of business with a bang.

More lulz from our friends at PCWorld: "Now that Windows 8 plays nice with phones and tablets, Microsoft can finally do cross-platform gaming right. Let's hope it doesn't screw it up." (emphasis added for clarity and hilarity)
So yeah, I'd say PCWorld is even harsher on MS than Macworld "seems" to be on Apple.

I have no problem with the article itself, but I do think the photos and graphics that accompany Macworld articles these days are inane. Screenshots and product photos are fine when they serve to illustrate a reviewed product or demonstrate a technique. But these silly photo compositions only detract from the content.
They're not clever, they're not informative, and they make it look like you have some graphics people who are just making up work to stay on the payroll.
