Good tips - a few things I didn't know - and some new features which do not work in Lion but make Mountain Lion more interesting.
Started with Apple IIe and have owned Macs ever since!

Having sound effects start automatically is a bad idea, since many people wanting to read the page are in environments where sound is unwelcome. This is especially true when it's an ad sounding off, and you have to hunt for the tab the sound is coming from, then hunt for the mute button before you can quiet things.

I assume that this article requires that you have the lates OS? I've tried a few of the queries and they don't seem to work. I have 10.6.8.

Yes, these days it's safe to assume that unless we specify otherwise, our how-to articles are focused on Mountain Lion (10.8).

These esoteric commands make me think of MS DOS or Windows!

Isn't there some add-on enhancement to Spotlight to turn these commands into something a plain English dropdown menu or pop-up pick-strip for Spotlight?

All well and good if spotlight can find stuff. I've rebuilt my spotlight index several times and it will not find an email that I can see in Mail.

Cmd F finds more stuff than spotlight.

So for me spotlight is dead in the water useless.

One of the thing I hated (notice the past tense) the most about Spotlight was the fact that it doesn’t show the path of the files. Well, it turns out that simply pressing Command+Option does the trick. Sometimes, you think know everything...

Thanks Dan !
