Another option would be to use iCab Mobile to do your browsing. It can download either to your iOS device or directly to your Dropbox account without putting it on your iOS device first.

Leave tabs on your iDevice Safari browser open to the download(s) you want. Then, on your Mac Safari browser just go to the synced tabs from your iDevice and perform your download(s). All brought to you free by the part of iCloud that works well.

Alng the same lines, store the URL in the Reading List or in a Bookmark folder which you sync through iCloud. Then open the item in Safari on whatever other devices you want to access it and, when you are done, delete it from the Bookmark folder or Reading List. I have this is a very comfortable mode for accessing items later on more appropriate devices.

I like using the SendTab Safari extension on the desktop combined with their mobile Safari bookmarklets for sending links between various desktop and mobile devices.
