Some short background I'm a long time windows/linux user and am a recent convert having recently picked up a mac mini server. Main reason being to downsize from a full ATX tower to something small and out of the way but still powerful to run the Apple TV, etc.

My first question is after only having the Mac for less than a week now is setting up remote control. I can access the shared files on my Win 7 machine with no issue, but am trying to setup SSH on the Mac for CLI access and SFTP acess (gui) for moving files. I went into sharing and enabled Remote Login to enable the SSH daemon. No issue there, I can launch putty, connect, accept the key and put in an ID and PW, but this is where i run into issues. After entering the PW I get access denied. Here is the output from the putty event log.

2013-04-09 09:40:03 Keyboard-interactive authentication failed
2013-04-09 09:40:03 Attempting keyboard-interactive authentication

Keep in mind all I did was enable Remote Login for SSH. I'm not sure what I need to do next. If Keyboard-interactive authentication fails and its looking for some key where is it located at? I have an old Ubuntu box I've been running for some time and had no issues running pub/priv keys I created with puttygen. I assumed with OSX that keyboard authentication would work default with just enabling the SSH daemon, but that appears to not be the case.

Thanks for the help.

I think I know what I'm missing. I'm guessing there is no key (none that I setup anyway) and because PW auth is not enabled in the config file for SSH it just goes through the different types of auth and fails.
