Hi, THANKS before I start.

I keep getting https : //twitter. com /i/ jot (I separated it)

I did a web search and found I'm not the only person going crazy.

What happens: A New tabbed window opens (that is empty) there can be multiple tabs opening saying the same thing and showing nothing.

Someone had mentioned adBlock plus, then enter the twitter address. I don't know if this is a good idea or not. Or is there something else?

Q: Is this a good idea or not? (adBlock plus) (DAMN another one just popped up. Empty page new tab same address.)

Appreciate an explanation, answer, something, Thank you.

I should add, when checking the activity it says,
jot 1x1 pixels ....................1 item
then the twitter address I mentioned above with ............................. 43 bytes

NOPE I WAS WRONG.

I have 10 tabs that have opened "jot 1x1" empty pages. With a web address of https ://twitter .com / i/jot (I broke that up so it doesn't become active.

Would someone please respond.

Thank you.

I regularly use AdBlock in Safari and AdBlock Plus in Firefox and I believe Chrome. So, it will not hurt to try it. Don't know if it is solve this particular problem, however.

Thanks smax, for your reply.

Yesterday I think about 2-3-4 of them popped up.

What I did was do a Finder search for .webloc. I then trashed 3 files (I think) checking them out in a list/date preview.
I then went to the files that I had when this problem started and as I mentioned trashed them.

So far today.... (do I dare say it) NOOOO. :D

Thanks for the AdBlock advice, we'll see.

Today (all morning) I tried FF instead of Safari. I OPENED both but FF was fine all day (no popups). I then closed FF tried Safari.

Safari has added a couple of the blank jot tabs. Just did again.

Because my 24" iMac just keeps working I've gone as far as I can with the OS, 10.6.8 So Safari is at Version 5.1.9 (6534.59.8).
Now this is starting to feel more like Safari than anything else.

Any ideas folks?

Thanks.

PS: It is the same tab ALL the time. Mentioned at the beginning.

Have you tried the AdBlock extension for Safari?

You could also try checking the "Block pop-up windows" under Security in the Safari preferences. Note this may also block some pop-up windows that you want.

Have you tried cleaning out your cookies and cache as well?

Q:Have you tried the AdBlock extension for Safari?
A: NOT Yet, I'm testing to see if its just that website. It only happens when I'm there. The comment section is also Disqus (if that helps)

A; HAVE had that selected for years.

Q:Have you tried cleaning out your cookies and cache as well?
A: YES ALL the time.

edit) I should add (if I haven't) being logged into Macworld doesn't repeat the same situation. It's just that other site using Safari.
