Apple will investigate new claims of labor violations at Pegatron
Posted 30 July 2013 - 04:51 AM
The three factories of Pegatron Group in the story are in China. And to think that Apple do not benefit directly is insulting to Apple watchers. So the questions needing transparent answers are all related to the gap between the cost (REAL cost) and the retail price of the product. The real cost must include labor costs (wages) and decent working conditons and safety in the Apple part of the Petragon factories. This is so telling of the pure evil that these managers and business owners perpetrate on their staff that it just echoes story after story about Chinese graft and corruption. Apple - bring your product manufacturing home to America - or Ireland - or Australia - or anywhere where national labor laws are understood and applied.

The entire consumer economy of the Western world is built on the backs of cheap labor in developing countries, and no company wants to risk disturbing the goose that lays the golden eggs. So until they run out of countries where they can find gobs of easily exploitable labor, nothing will change.
