I've raised 5 cats. They're so wonderful, but can be a handful, until they are trained.
Here are a few thoughts:
Don't allow kittens unsupervised access to the work space, if possible.
Bundling wires with wire wrap can help.
Setup physical barriers, to prevent them from walking on stuff, get behind the desk/stuff, ...
They tend to not like tin foil, so placing a few sheets around can help deter them.
Carry a squirt gun. Obviously a bit dangerous near expensive electronics, but they hate water ... and it doesn't take much time before they get the message. After a couple times they only need to see it and they get it (though my one cat got quite wet one time) I can snap my fingers and point down/away - as they still sleep in chairs and sofas when nobody is around - and they'll move.
Place a petbed with catnip nearby on the ground, and try to modify their behavior. We have a cat bed in every room.
The other thing our cats like more than anything is their big climbing tower. And boxes. Every shipping box gets inspected and slept in. Even when there's hardly any free space in it.
So try to modify their behavior with something better, praise them with good behavior. Etc.
