Saw mention of Desktop 9 on Parallels site earlier this afternoon but now all traces of it have disappeared. Pulled already?

Tesuj, yes that's true. I was fortunate enough to get my Win8 license for free from this Cnet promotion thingie ( http://thebigdog.yzi...s8?ref=bi7glYg8 ), and still experimenting with it.

Upgrade for $50? Each version says that it's faster and better than the previous one. Each time I upgrade I am left disappointed. Upgrade for $50? I think not. I'll wait a year or so and when I get a new Mac, the dealer will give me Parallels for free.

Aside from this article and a press release on Parallels' web site I can find no other mention of Desktop 9. I guess we'll see if it shows up on September 5 or not.

So how does the Parallels 9 perform compared to versions 7 or 8. Do all these new features cause it to run slower? Has performance improved?

When I saw the email ad I waited a day and then did the download via the links in the ad. Running Win 7 Home Prem on it. No obvious changes to performance but also no "weirdnesses" either.

One disappointment - the server for Parallels Access (for iPad) will only run
on OS 10.7 or later. And, so far, I cannot get my prior Parallels remote client for iPad to connect at all. I know, RTFM! ... Ernie

Parallels is better than VM Ware, but customer support and loyalty doesn't exist. 2 weeks before V9 released, I purchased the full version of 8. I couldn't upgrade from my previous version because it was too many releases behind. I tried to contact Parallels customer support twice to see if they would upgrade me to V9, which I thought was fair and reasonable . . . No response, nothing. I will probably stick with Virtual Box which works well and is free!
