Installing Mavericks: What you need to know

I (had) Mountain Lion, on a Macbook Pro with 8GB RAM.
The only thing i notice so far is that the icons at the top right feel a little stiff, in so much that there is a delay when switching through them with the pointer. It's really bothering me, but as you said, it's a new OS.
I absolutely love the new apps introduced in this version, and the much needed spicing up those core apps (specifically Pages, Calendar and Contacts). Of course the star of this new upgrade, and the reason i rushed it in the first place, was the new Finder. One word: excellence.
I used to be a Windows user, but i have to say that Apple is taking their OS into the future at a MANAGEABLE pace (not shoving touch crap down our throats... Microsoft). In time, in time.
Congrats guys, you did well.
