Holding down C obviously won't work for starting from an external drive, so

How do I startup from DW in an external drive?
Cheers

I don't think you can. I think you can only boot from a DiskWarrior DVD that is compatible with your OS. If you want to run DiskWarrior from your external drive, I think you need to boot from your external drive & then launch a copy of DiskWarrior that is on your external drive.

Holding down option during the start of the boot process will show you a menu of all bootable devices on the machine, and you can choose the DW disc from there assuming (as the other poster noted) that it's got a suitable OS on it for your machine.

Thanks sophocles and bastion.

Holding down option worked. The external drive mounted and I could run DW.

The copy of DiskWarrior has the ability to startup the computer. Not sure of the name of that setup but it was able to run. It ran very fast also, compared to when run from the internal drive.

Once again you'all came across with the goods
Cheers
