The service, in the spirit of Google, is designed to track information about your music tastes and listening habits to make you a better advertising target.

Fixed.

Bingo!

Let's see... $120 per year for Google to track and sell your information, versus iTunes Radio and iTunes Match at $25 per year. I'll take Apple's combo, thank you very much.

I'm interested to know how this works. Does Apple get a 30% cut of the subscription fees?

I'm really liking iTunes radio. The comedy station I put together is awesome. $25 to have all my music in the cloud or $120 for a weaker library and "limited" upload of songs? Not for me. I avoid everything Google anyway.

Why not compare services without uploading anything to either? Make a playlist based on one artist's name and see what plays and list the first 100 selections. Shame Apple limits skips, but the songs played have me rarely wanting to do that.
