After talking with some people who have ties inside Apple I got the scoop on a few items: The G4's will be upgraded this summer to probably dual 1.6 ghz. They were supposed to be dual 1.2 on the last upgrade, but Motorola messed up as usual. The G5 is ready, but Jobs is holding onto it just for marketing (basically until the G4 is milked dry). The G5 will come out whenever Jobs is ready, and that's looking like 2003. The iMac will be getting a performance boost of some sort. Look for some better graphic cards and higher G4 speeds. It isn't likely to get the 17 inch display because of the rising cost of displays, but the arm was originally designed for a 15 or 17 inch LCD and will eventually get a 17 when costs come down. The iPod will likely be updated or there will be a new device, but that's under tight raps. The Windows version of iPod (just software) has been ready for a year, but once again, Jobs is waiting it out. He may release that, but Apple likes the Windows users that are switching to Mac just because of the iPod. Jaguar will also be ready for Macworld and will be the big news.

Why do you say you think the iMac will probably be getting the G5 by Christmas?. I thought Apple always had a large difference between the processor it uses in the pro machines and the one it puts in the consumer/home machines. Surely this would close the gap between the two. Having said that, I hope you're right, I'll be getting an iMac towards the end of the year and I'd love a G5 in it!!.

I doubt it. You don't hold leaps in processing power back for half a year. The G4 is Moto's child, not Apple's, so if anyone is interested in 'milking it dry', it would be Moto.
More likely that the G5 is not yet available in large enough quantities. Remember the premature and almost disastrous introduction of the G4?
