Is there a way to get the finder to calculate the folder size? I know that it was an option in the "view options" window in OS9, but I can't find it's equivalent in OSX. thanks, scott

Display the window in List view and select View Options from the Finder's View menu. At the bottom of the resulting window you'll see the Calculate All Sizes option. Select this option and folder sizes will be displayed.

The automatic folder size calculation slows down the finder considerably. I only activate it when I need to make some room. If you need an individual folder's size, just use "Get Info" (Command-I) on it. The size will be quickly calculated just for that folder.
