Hello - Can anyone tell me where to look for comparisons of Internet blocking software. I've heard of cybernanny.... is there anything built into OSX? What else is there? I've fiddled with some settings but so far I can't see that it really does anything!
The kids are just starting to use internet, so I think it might be time. Also something that would be crossplatform over to the PC would be good. Are there any?

Nothing will replace close supervision, and any internet filter will require a lot of tweaking or set up. That said, here are a couple with multiple platform support:
Web Washer
Internet Filter
Secure Mac focuses more on the security of your computer (but that's also something to think about).
Here are a couple of guides aimed at parents:
Net Smartz
Texas' statuatory filtering information
All in all, I would suggest you spend more time focusing on how neat appropriate sites are than talking about all the trash that's out there - that is to say make them curious about the good stuff, not the bad stuff. (Remember the guy that kicked up a fuss about porn on the net in '96? It turned out he had a porn site that he wanted to advertise, and was very successful by denouncing it.)
