I'm using the Mac mail program on my iMac (OSX 10.3) to attach image files to go to my web page editor. I need to send the files in .gif format and for some reason, when I drag the file icons from the desktop onto the body of the mail message, the file opens instead of showing up as the attached file icon. This occurs also when I select Attach from the pull down menu. Can anyone suggest how I can attach the files as the unopened file icons without them automatically opening up in the body of the email?
Thanks so much,
Jerry Patterson

Just in case -Jerry poPs back. You can also create a folder to place your files in. Then click once on the folder to hi-lite it--> go to File menu-->Create Archive or Compress (depending on your OSX flavor) and this will .zip the folder. This also helps to keep the integrity of an odd file format. HTH
