I am looking for info on Office 4.2.1. The only thing I know is that it cae out just before Office 98. I have no office app on my computer at present.
Will I have problems installing it on my ibook 366?
I only require it to make basic word docs...no fancy stuff...will the documents be compatible with later versions of word?

jeswan,
My experience with Excel 4.0 was it broke with Mac OS 8.x. Had to upgrade to Excel 5.0 which pretty much crapped out with OS 9.X. I think Excel 5.0 was part of Office 4.2.1 so I would be wary. Excel 98 & Word 98 were OK for me through OS 9.2.2. E & W 98 ran fine on my 8500/180. I jumped straight to Office v.X when I got my G4 DP 1.25 last fall.

I used Word 6.0.1 extensively, MS Bookshelf and MS Help, also. Didn't use any other parts of 4.2.1.
I may be alone in the universe; I liked Word 6 and had no problems with it. I still have my ultra-tricked out Normal Template and the READ ME files to adjust the application so Word didn't belch.
I used it in OS 9.1. The only problem was the CD's installer did not function correctly from the CD. So I worked installation from the hard drive.
I would need to check my archives to identify if I created a disk image on the hard drive, or just dragged CD's contents to the hard drive.
Word 6.0.1 is capable of anything that can be done -- for word processing -- in Word 2001. So for your stated purposes, it is tremendous overkill.
