Artwork problem in iTunes

I have 2 songs in one folder. I tried adding the same piece of artwork to both and am left with a white box in the artwork window. I have tried selecting "Get Info" and removing this white box but it continues to appear. When I try to add the artwork, it appears in the "Get Info" box but not in the artwork window of the iTunes browser. What is this white box and how can I be rid of it?
