Other World Computing (OWC) and Newer Technology Inc. on Tuesday announced a new "ultra high-capacity" Lithium-Polymer battery designed to work as a replacement for batteries in all first- and second-generation iPod. The companies said the new 2100mAh battery has 70 percent more charge than standard Apple stock batteries do. The battery costs US$39.95. Non-scratching installation tools and a detailed instruction manual are also included. more

This hits at a time when many 2nd Generation batteries will be starting to die. It looks like a pretty good price. As the demand for these replacements increases I'll be interested to see if prices drop even more. Hopefully, people will start to see that these batteries are replaceable and the one downside of the iPod will become a moot point.

I'm sure the'll roll those out as the demand increases, but for now the'll focus on the models that need replacements.
