Immediate trash empty

Got a friend with a problem.
On a G4 PB, OS10.3.5, anytime something is dragged to the Trash it says it will be deleted immediately.
Where's the pref to change that so Trash will hold until you're ready to empty it? Having trouble tracking that one down.

Are these files on the local hard drive or on a network share? If they are are on a network share, this is normal behavior.

Well, the other reason might be that the .Trash directory has the wrong permissions.
Have him type this into the terminal and post the results here:
