I want one printer (HP LaserJet 4050 or 3200...have both) to wirelessly serve two desktop PC's (XP) and two Mac Laptops (X10.3)...and would prefer to do it without setting up a network for security reasons. (As I understand it, one printer with a wireless print server operated in "Ad Hoc" mode bypasses the need for a network.)
I've been told (by one manufacturer's techy) that wireless print servers can't be set up to serve both Mac and PC...even on an Ad Hoc basis.
Anyone out there have experience that would confirm or refute this?
The alternative is to have two wireless print servers and two printers.
Any help woulf be appreciated.
Jim

Given enough time and money anythings possible right? Having said that ... You might want to consult Joel Shoemaker's page (on the left is Forums - where you can post an exact question).

I gather that you think I am trying to do the impossible...or, at least, expensive.
Well, it turned out to be neither...and the answer should have been obvious to both of us. It's called Airport Express. Within a couple of hours, I had both PC's (with XP) and Macs (10.3) successfully feeding a single HP printer.
Shame on us for not knowing.
By the way your suggested link dealt with file sharing, not printer sharing. No help.
Thanks for the effort though.
