I own a old Imac 400mhz running 10.2 and 9.2. I have lexmark black and white laser printer and I would now like to get a color printer, mostly for creating color photography for personal use and also in my new career ( I hope) in real estate sales.
I have not worked for a long time as I am disabled. So money is diffiently a consideration.
What would you recommend as the best printer for me? At the local apple store they showed me an epison 2200, I think that was the model number?

If THIS PRINTER is the one they showed you, it is an excellent printer, but probably a bit of overkill for your needs (& price considerations)
Unless you want/need the capabilities of the above unit (13" X 44" prints, really hi resolution, 7 ink tanks for archive-quality inks ect ect...), you may wanna spend some time shopping around. There are alot of very high quality photo printers out there from HP, Canon & Epson that will produce excellent results for ~$200 or less.

personally I love both the epson and canon lines and actually have both of them in my office. The Epson 2200 is a wonderful printer but doesn't sound like the right printer for you unless you need to print larger than 8.5 x 11. If not, take a look at the Epson R200 (~90.00USD) or R300 (adds an LCD screen to the R200 along with media card slots) or the Canon i960 line (~110.00USD). The Canon is being phased out with the new line of iPixima printers but the i960 is a worthy printer as well. Enjoy

I really love my Pixma iP4000 printer. It is fast, quiet and produces great photo prints. As an added bonus it can print on both sides of the paper (duplex).
Check it out here: iP4000

I agree. I continue to be astonished at the quality of a printer I bought many months ago, a Canon i860 which now has been replaced, I believe by the Pixma iP4000. This model and several other Canons are available for under $200. If you don't need 11x17" printed edge to edge, there really isn't any need to spend more (the iP4000 lists for USD $150 but I'm sure if you shop you can get it quite a lot cheaper).

Here's a good site to do comparison shopping for brands/models/prices. http://www.shopping.com/xPP-Printers
