I had a chance to play around with a demo eMac for about half an hour last week - for a while I've been considering what Mac to get later this Summer. I was glad to get my hands on an eMac, finally.
I find the eMac much nicer in person than in internet pics - very attractive, a minimalist and sensible update to the classic iMac design. I think the eMac I tested had been on for hours already but it seemed hardly even warm.
Anyway, now that I've had my playtime, I'm VERY seriously considering getting myself an eMac - the 17" screen is gorgeous, the machine seemed fast enough for my needs, I can get a Combo Drive because I work at a university... and (drum roll) most importantly, the price is right.

If you want to see how easy it is to put a new HD in the eMac check out this site:-

It doesn't look anywhere near as easy as it was to upgrade my iMac 333 to 80GB unfortunately images/icons/frown.gif

I was quite impressed with the quietness of the fan (compared to my iMac 333 it was virtually silent), but wasn't impressed with the display at high resolution. The store had it set at 1024x768 but turning it up to 1280x1024 (72Hz) the screen appeared to have a distinct wobble (certainly worse than my iMac at 1024x768, 75Hz) . In my mind the major advantage of the eMac (other than price) was the high res screen. I don't know if this is typical of all eMac's but if it is the case I'll be waiting for a 17" flat panel iMac to come out later in the year.
P.S. There also appeared to be a lot of wasted space around the edge of the screen (despite optimising screen geometry)

Also does it suck it's air in or blow it out of the eMac?
Is it good at quake 3? as i can't find a macworld review or any review of this mac anywhere on the net.....
I am pulling my hair as to what to do about this eMac...should i wait for Macworld New York to come? Would they update such a mac? Or should i buy now?
