Hi: you'll notice that i've been working on investment accounts per my posts for the last few weeks.
One thing that came up: Merger only seems to work in an account where you BOUGHT shares, not just Moved Shares (MS) into it.
I have a Dividend Reinvest (DRIP) account and a Brokerage account, and have been moving shares into the brokerage over time from the DRIP. When i did an Actions: merger in the brokerage, Quicken ONLY recorded the merger in the DRIP, even though the transaction window was chosen from the brokerage.
The only work-around i can think of is setting up a dummy transaction in the brokerage to buy the shares at Basis (basis is from the DRIP) with a dummy purchase on the day the shares were moved into the account.
One thing i thought of while writing this: i haven't put a price for the shares on the MS transaction since i'm still working on basis for them. Not sure if this is where Quicken trips.
Foob
p.s. Do you know of rules for using Moved Shares in/out? I can't do the dragged shares between portfolios, since i want the account histories separate.
