Does anyone know who makes Apples Cinema Display monitors for them? I just bought a Samsung 19 inch monitor and put my 15 inch Apple Display on Ebay (and got a fair amount for it), while packing up the Apple display in the original box, I noticed that it is Made in Korea, and the bottom of the box says Kumi, Korea. I also noticed that Samsung has a 9.7 million square foot Information and Communication Manufacturing complex in the same city. Granted, the seal on the bottom of the box that says Kumi, Korea looks like the box manufacturers seal, but it might be good box business if your located next to Samsungs factory images/icons/wink.gif

Just curious

Mike

You pay for beauty.

The Samsung line doesn't look as good as the Apple designs in my humble opinion.

You mean the beauty of the frame, or the actual display quality? I'd pay more for the latter, but not necessarily the former.

I would think that the guts are exactly the same as Apple and Apple buys the guts and puts on their frame...that 24' is nice but the 21" seems to be good enough for most. but they seem more expensive than Apple's but they allow me to hook them up to my VGA port on my PowerBook without an adaptor.

The guts are not exactly the same. They can't be, since the displays look very different. Every review I've seen places Apple's monitors on top. It is possible for a company (Samsung) to produce different levels of quality monitors for different purposes. If quality is a major issue, go with Apple.

The shell is different...the 24" Samsung with a custom frame could be brought down to 23" by Apple's design. The same thing happens with alot of Sony monitors they sell their monitors to differnt companies and the custom shells can reduce screen size slightly but the glass is exactly the same.
