Okay, I admit... I'm obviously new to this DVD thing as I just got a SuperDrive in my PowerMac G4 so I can finally burn DVD's I use Elgato Eye TV and it's wonderful but my question/scenario is this... I can set it to encode an mpeg 2 at 90 minutes to a disk (best quality), 120 minutes to a disk (normal) or 180 minutes to a disk (not too good. There isn't that much difference between the first to but there is in the last one as far as quality is concerned. How come StarWars fits on 1 DVD disk and it's over 2 hours, and my 180 minute setting for encoding looks like crap? What gives... is there a difference in the way that it's written? I'm kind of naive about this one so any clues would be welcomed. Thanks

It's on a dual layer disk.

The commercial Star Wars DVD is a dual layer disk that can hold over 9 gigs. Your superdrive is not a dual layer drive and is limited to burning on 4.7 gig disks.
