How to use iMac as TV

I got an iMac 17", so how can I use it to as a TV? I have DirecTV and would just need to know how to connect the output from the box into the iMac...?
Any ideas?

I have an iMac G5 17 inch, DirecTV and am watching a movie next to this window on the Mac as I respond to your post. I am using ConvertX box running EyeTV software. Have had it several months now and love it. I also use it to convert our old video8 tapes to DVD. I can "back up" this movie I am watching or record the whole thing.

Do you then use the normal DirecTV controller and run it in full screen mode to watch TV then in window when you're working?
