Ever since upgrading to Tiger, whenever I plug my Lacie external drive into my powerbook, its contents show up in the trash. The hard drive icon is still on the desktop, and I can access my files, but they're also in the trash. When I search for a file, Spotlight also finds two of them: one where it should be, another in the trash.
What's going on here and how do I fix it?

Could be worth checking your Firmware (check this article):
MacFixit OSX10 and Firewire

Thanks for the suggestion Rugby, but I'm not really looking to spend $24.95 to read a sollution that MIGHT work (I shouldnt have to spend anything!).
Can you just tell me what that article said?

ahhh forgot that I subscribe to Versiontracker which means I get access to these articles: but some users have had issues with their FW drives after upgrading to 10.4.1 (might get resolved in next release 10.4.2) and some of these issues were resolved by upgrading the firmware on the HD.
It could be worth checking and is very simple: go to your HD manufacturers website and check under support if there are any new firmware (you run them as software upgrades)
